Lower Manhattan has a new billion-dollar landmark, finally.
The Fulton Center at the corner of Broadway and Fulton is one of the MTA’s big transit projects. It connects to 8 subway lines currently and serves 300,000 riders daily.
It features improved access to platforms and new elevators and escalators. Portions have been opened as they are finished.
It is eventually also going to be home to retail space and restaurants. Crews are still working on some aspects of the construction.
The official commemoration has been scheduled for June 26th, 2014 (after several setbacks). That date has not yet been confirmed by the MTA.
