On June 28, 1983, exactly 30 years ago Friday, a portion of the Mianus Bridge in Greenwich, Conn., collapsed, killing three people and injuring three others.
The collapse damaged a key portion of infrastructure along Interstate 95 and raised troubling questions about bridge safety. Since then, bridge collapses have happened again, most recently on Thursday in Washington state.
