A young woman was reportedly beaten and sexually assaulted in a Bronx park early Thursday morning, police say.
The 18-year-old woman told cops she was walking home from work about 4:45 a.m. when she noticed a man following her. She said she cut through Crotona Park to try and get away.
The woman told detectives the man then grabbed her, struck her in the face and sexually assaulted her.
She transported herself to North Central Bronx Hospital, where she reported the assault.
Police say there were no witnesses to the attack and there are no suspects at this time.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set man in his 20s or 30s, wearing dark clothes and construction boots.
