The streets around some New York City schools may become a little safer because of new legislation.

State lawmakers have approved a bill which allows the city to install speed cameras in front of New York City schools. The State Senate and Assembly passed the bill which will put cameras in 20 locations that have documented speeding problems.

Mayor Bloomberg is a strong proponent of the bill, saying that speed is the biggest factor in traffic deaths in the City.
