Three transients were charged Thursday in the stabbing death of a woman who took their picture on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Dustin James Kinnear, 26, was charged with murder; Jason Joel Wolstone, 33, was charged with assault by means likely to produce bodily injury and two counts of accessory after the fact; and Brian Joseph Widdows, 34, was also charged with two counts of accessory after the fact.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday outside the American Eagle store at the Hollywood and Highland complex, police said.
The victim, 23-year-old Christine Calderon, of Lynwood, was walking with a male co-worker, just steps from the Walk of Fame.
They came upon the group of transients, who were displaying signs asking for money with four-letter insults and a smiley face.
Calderon apparently found the signs amusing, and took out her cell phone to snap a photo.
Moments later, one of the men demanded that she pay a dollar for the picture, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.
