A longstanding policy has been tweaked to allow children in desperate need of an organ transplant to appeal for special consideration.

The move comes after the families of two dying children filed a lawsuit.

11-year-old Javier Acosta and 10-year-old Sarah Murnaghan both have Cystic Fibrosis, and need lung transplants.

A board that oversees transplants voted unanimously for a system that would allow doctors to appeal and review individual cases.
