There are no dry eyes as dozens of people mourn the death of little Ariel Russo and say a final goodbye.
Her funeral was private, only family and friends. But her family held a public memorial Saturday night and the community rallied around them. They sent balloons into the sky and paid tribute to their angel with a song.
An unlicensed 17-year-old driver hit Ariel and her grandmother as they crossed the street in the Upper West Side.
The Fire Commissioner said that due to a shift change, it took four minutes for a 9-1-1 operator to see the call, then another four minutes to get to the scene.
Whether or not the extra time could’ve saved Ariel’s life is a question that weighed heavy on funeral guests.
Ariel’s family said they will not rest until they get justice.
