The rain here in Gerritsen Beach has been coming down in bands, dumping buckets of water a few minutes at a time then letting up to a light drizzle. So far it seems like those breaks have been helping as the roads throughout the neighborhood are still pretty clear. But some people tell me they me they’re already having a tough time keeping the water out of their homes.
Jason Sciulara says he hasn’t even finished repairing his home after it was washed out by Super Storm Sandy, and already the first named storm of the hurricane season is causing problems. But unlike Sandy, this time says he has the tools to deal with the water.
Even though its just the start of the hurricane season, Sciulara said everyone better start getting used to preparing for big storms.
“Without a doubt we are going to start seeing a lot of them, hopefully not even close to what Sandy was,” he said.
