College students on financial aid are watching the calendar and hoping Congress will act to prevent a big hike in student loan interest rates.

But the problem is, the government hasn’t gotten around to voting on it.

The senate was expected to vote on two separate bills today that would have kept interest rates for subsidized student loans from doubling on July first.

If congress fails to act interest rate for college students will jump to 6.8%.
