Major explosion at Nyack College leaves several injured

ROCKLAND COUNTY (PIX11) — Several people were injured following an explosion that rocked the Nyack College campus in Rockland County Tuesday.

According to officials, the blast happened inside a building along South Highland Avenue. Preliminary reports suggest the explosion may be gas-related.

Moments after the explosion, emergency crews scoured the scene in search of victims initially believed to be trapped.


At least seven people were injured in an explosion that occurred just before noon Tuesday in a building on the campus of Nyack College, officials said.

As many as 7 people have since been transported to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Those initially thought to be trapped or missing, have all been accounted for.

The main gas line on the property as been shut down as officials investigate.

Nyack College is a Christian college located about 25 miles north of New York City.
