BROOKLYN (PIX11) — Cops are investigating a grisly discovery in the predominately Orthodox Jewish community of Midwood, Brooklyn.
The decomposing body of a woman was found Tuesday night in an apartment. There was also reportedly a bizarre note left by the dead woman’s husband saying “I killed my wife. She was casting spells on me.”
Police won’t officially confirm anything about the note but say they have a person of interest in custody.
The incident unfolded at 1315 Avenue N. Police say they got a 911 at about 9;45 p.m.Tuesday night for a foul odor coming from a bedroom in a basement apartment. When they arrived they say they found a 57 year old woman who had been stabbed multiple times in the back and had head injuries.
Eli Dornstein lives in the neighborhood and told PIX11, “One of the neighbors smelled a really bad smell and he told the landlord.” he said. “The landlord came and opened the door and saw a body with a sheet on it.” Dornstein says cops and an ambulance showed up followed by a stream of detectives going into and out of the building.
Neighbors say the couple lived in one of two basement apartments and often could be heard arguing. No names have been released. Police say the incident is related to a domestic situation.
