BROOKLYN (PIX11) — A 10-year old boy is being credited with thwarting a home invasion attempt Monday at a Brooklyn home, NYPD officials said.
According to authorities, the incident happened at about 5:15 p.m. after two men disguised as delivery men entered the 80th Street residence in the Canarsie section armed with guns. The intruders then allegedly demanded money and forced two teenage sisters to face the floor in the living room.
When one of the suspects continued to the second floor of the home, a 40-year-old woman who was attempting to get away ran into a room, slamming the door on the suspect’s arm. The door was slammed so hard, police said, that it forced him to drop his weapon. The young boy then picked up the gun and pressed the trigger, releasing a round.
The perpetrators fled the scene once gunfire rang out.
Officials are still investigating the incident. According to police, both men are described as being black and in their 20’s.
