An undated picture of a Taco Bell employee tonguing a stack of hard taco shells was posted on Facebook and quickly spread, with the restaurant’s manager issuing a statement Monday.
Someone identified on Facebook as ‘Jj O’Brien Nolan’, of claims to be a Ridgecrest, CA employee, posted the picture on the official page of Taco Bell, with the note “This sure says a lot about your employees, food treatment, and what they post on the internet.”
On Monday the manager of the restaurant, Cathy Marx, told CNBC “We’re currently dealing with it.” The Ridgecrest location reportedly has an “A” rating from the County of Kern Public Health Services Dept.
A corporate spokesperson for Taco Bell issued the following statement regarding the filthy photo:
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and team members, and we have strict food handling procedures and zero tolerance for any violations. When we learned of the situation we immediately contacted this restaurant’s leadership and although we believe it is a prank and the food was not served to customers, we are conducting a full scale investigation and will be taking swift action against those involved.”
