In a very candid admission, actor Michael Douglas revealed that his recent bout with throat cancer was sparked by oral sex.
Douglas opened up about the diagnosis to The Guardian in an eyebrow-raising interview, where he said his cancer was caused by the human papillomavirus, also known as HPV.
“Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus,” the 68-year-old explained.
Despite at first believing that the stress brought on by his son Cameron’s legal woes caused the cancer, it was actually a sexually transmitted disease, he said.
Douglas is married to Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones.
In the interview, the “Behind the Candelabra” star says he thought he would not survive his health scare. Douglas has been cancer-free for 2 years.
