The FDNY said the EMS computer system went down for 20 to 30 minutes around 12:30p.m on Friday. It’s part of the overall 9-1-1 revamped system, and it’s not the first big problem this week.
It was a third day of problems with the city’s emergency system.
The NYPD confirms part of the city’s EMS Dispatch System went down Friday, a week when the city already experienced ICAD or 9-1-1 system problems and outages.
On Wednesday, at 4:21pm the 9-1-1 system went offline 16 minutes.
Then on Thursday at noon, it went down for 18 minutes.
Dispatchers moved to paper slip system dispatchers and performed radio calls.
While they are not connected, they are the city’s lifelines when an emergency happens.
The president of the EMS Union, Israel Miranda, said that’s not what happened. He said that the whole system went down and he added that it put workers under stress.
