13-year-old Arvind Mahankali of Bayside, Queens, reigned victorious at Thursday night’s Scripps National Spelling Bee. Mahankali won on his third year competing with the German word “knaidel.”
The eighth-grader is no stranger to the tricky spelling of German words; the whiz kid was tripped up with German words two years in a row.
