Train service along the 1 line was suspended in both directions between 168 St and 96 St after a train partially derailed at 125th St. Wednesday afternoon
According to the FDNY, two wheels of the first car derailed, disabling the train.
Roughly 300 people were aboard at the time of the derailment, according to the FDNY. The train was completely shut down, and police and firefighters were on the scene to evacuate people onto a ‘rescue train’. The train adjoined the stalled car so passengers could walk through the stranded car’s doors onto the rescue cars.
There were no injuries reported. According to the MTA: There is no 1 train service in both directions between Chambers St and 137 St-City College; trains are running in both directions between 137 St-City College to Van Cortlandt Park- 242 St.
Trains are running in both directions between South Ferry and Chambers St.
2 and 3 trains are running local in both directions between Chambers St and 96 St; there is shuttle bus service in both directions between 96 St and 137 St-City College.
