Syrian TV correspondant killed in ambush

syria DAMASCUS, SYRIA (PIX11)-– A Syrian TV correspondent was attacked and killed near the Syrian and Lebanese border on Monday according to the Associated Press.

Yara Abbas was a correspondent for a state owned TV channel and was covering the continuing fights near the border when her crew and her were ambushed.

Associated Press reports that during the attack an assistant and a cameraman were wounded as well.

According to the London Based Rights Group, anywhere from 40 to 100journalists have been wounded, killed, or kidnapped since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011.

The UN also reports that more than 70,000 people have been killed in the on going border attacks.
