A slow-moving storm dropped three feet of snow on the Whiteface Mountain ski resort at the border of New York and Vermont.
A spokesman reported that the snow began falling Saturday and continued steadily through Sunday evening. He was unsure whether or not it was a record for the 5,000-foot tall mountain. In Mount Mansfield, Vermont, 13.2 inches fell by Sunday — reportedly a record this late in the season.
The strange Memorial Day meteorological events weren’t confined to New York, however, with parts of Texas and Iowa experiencing dangerous flooding due to heavy rain.
