The NYPD wants to build a serious security fortress around the new World Trade Center.
The department just unveiled its plan for the streets surrounding the site.
First thing you’ll notice is that it’ll be good for pedestrians, but bad for drivers.
Greenwich, Fulton, Vesey, and Liberty streets will be closed to cars.
As you can see, that’s the whole block around the site.
The NYPD security plan will cost around $40 million to put in place.
It calls for a 16 acre security perimeter that will include guard booths – plus checkpoints and vehicle barricades.
Pedestrians and bike riders will still be able to easily get around in the area.
