(PIX11)– A former wide receiver for the New York Jets has died.
George Sauer passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday in Westerville, Ohio.
Sauer was a lifetime Jet; he played all six seasons of his career with the New York team.
The wide receiver helped bring home the Super Bowl III Championship for Gang Green back in 1969.
Sauer caught eight passes that game for 133 yards helping the Jets beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7.
Sauer retired from professional football at age 27.
A family member confirmed his death on Friday, he was 69-years-old.
