It operates just like a regular gun.  It’s called the. ” Liberator” or 3D printable gun.

It’s deadly in the wrong hands, which is why the government took down the website and link where the blueprint for the gun was available.

Pix11’s Rolando Pujol, the station’s digital content manager, says there’s no fighting the march of technology — whatever you may think of its uses– through censorship.

“It’s been put on Twitter, Facebook on other web sites so it’s out there and once it’s out there, if you try to suppress it, the more people will think of innovative ways” to distribute 3D guns.

So far the blueprint for the printable gun has been downloaded at least 100,000 times.

Here in the city gun crime is a major problem. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said this plastic option could make matters worse.

Kelly said “this is a concern, we don’t need anymore guns or anything that can fire a bullet so hopefully the government will address, pass legislation and resolve this.”

On the website for the blueprint we found this message: “This file has been removed from public access at the request of the Defense Trade Control until further notice.”
