NASSAU COUNTY, Long Island (PIX11) – Nassau County officials have decided to amp up police presence in Merrick near elementary schools as police search for a man accused of trying to grab children in broad daylight.

Officials say the man has tried to grab kids 10 times since April 3rd. All of the incidents have been isolated to Merrick and nearby Bellmore.

One child was able to help police come up with a suspect sketch. One child said the man was driving a green sedan. Another said he was behind the wheel of a white pick-up truck. Other times he’s been seen on foot.

If you see the suspect, you’re asked to call 911.
