NEW YORK (PIX11) — After a year of getting acquainted with the sidelines, the New York Jets have decided to release Tim Tebow .
The news comes just as players were slated to arrive to begin workouts in Florham Park, N.J.
In a statement to ESPN, Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed the Tebow K-O.
“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” Ryan said. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.”
During his one and only season with the Gang Green, Tebow participated in only 72 offensive snaps, barely making it onto the field despite his undeniable popularity.
