NASSAU COUNTY, Long Island (PIX11) – Nassau County officials have decided to amp up police presence in Merrick and Bellmore near elementary schools.
The move comes from a string of recent incidents involving stranger’s trying to lure and pick up children. County Executive Ed Mangano held a press conference today urging residents to report any suspicious incidents or activities.
“Clearly there is a predator among us and the Nassau County Police Department is stepping up its patrols,” Mangano said. “[The police] will use all of its intelligence-leg policing to hunt down this predator.”
Four incidents have been reported during the month of April.
