BOSTON (PIX11) — Just hours after authorities took down one-half of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect duo, new details are emerging of 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Tsarnaev was killed during an early morning shootout with police, officials confirmed. According to CNN, the slain suspect was wearing explosives and a triggering device when he died.

Police continued their search for the younger brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Friday in a dramatic standoff in the Boston suburb of Watertown.

Although not much was immediately known about the younger brother, a photo gallery for an online Boston University magazine revealed Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a competitive boxer who competed in the New England Golden Gloves in 2010.

The native of Chechnya, Tamerlan had a flourishing fighting career where he hoped to be selected for the US Olympic team and be naturalized American.

According to a Deadspin report, aside from boxing which he did in the United States as early as 2004, Tsarnaev attended Bunker Hill Community College where he studied engineering.

It was also revealed that he had a YouTube channel which hosted videos that ranged from “Terrorists” to “Islam.”

As part of the photo gallery, Tsarnaev gave an interview where he was quoted in saying : “I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them.”
