Seven people on long island have been busted in connection with a tax refund and identity theft ring.

Police say the ring filed more than 30 fake tax returns for 2011, instead of 2012.

They collected more than $60,000 in state and federal refund money.

The Nassau DA’s office says many of the tax filers were willing participants.

But stolen identities were also used.
