ARIZONA (PIX11) – An Arizona man was arrested after he allegedly killed his wife over fear he gave her the HIV virus, and proceeded to murder his adult son for being “handicapped.”

According to Goodyear Police, 63-year-old Eugene Maraventano stabbed his wife Janet to death in the couple’s bed, believing he had passed on HIV to her.

Court documents say he told officers he had contracted the virus from prostitutes years earlier.

After killing his wife in cold blood, authorities said, he proceeded to kill his 27-year-old son Bryan who he believed was mentally disabled as he didn’t have a girlfriend and played video games all day, police said.

Court documents did not reveal whether Maraventano was HIV positive or if he indeed passed on the virus to his wife.
