NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Several brush fires are burning in Kearny, Carlstadt and Ridgefield Tuesday as strong winds and unseasonably warm temperatures are creating dangerous conditions.

In Kearny, fire has lit up the brush north of Route 7 sending plumes of smoke into the air.  So far no traffic problems related to the fire has been reported.

High winds helped ignite another fire near the Jersey Turnpike, not far from the Vince Lombardi rest stop.  That fire doesn’t appear to present a threat to drivers or residents.

Winds have quickly picked up over the course of the day, making it tough for firefighters.
