The concrete will along the top of a Game Stop store at 91-31 Queens Blvd. crumbled, sending the white bricks that made up the facade into the street and injuring one.
According to officials, the 22-year-old man was walking in front of the store during the collapse and suffered a broken leg. Paramedics took him to Elmhurst Hospital Center.
At least one vehicle was badly damaged after portions of the wall crushed the windshield and hood.
Inspectors from the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Buildings Engineers responded to the scene.
The building collapse — which is located along a very busy street just a block from the Queens Center mall — prompted the closure of all adjacent first-floor businesses, including an Army recruiting office. Government vehicles belonging to the office were damaged, including one that was completely crushed.
