Jimmy Fallon will replace Jay Leno as the host of “The Tonight Show,” which is moving to New York, according to reports quoting NBC.

“The Tonight Show” with Steve Allen began in New York City in 1954, and left for Los Angeles while Johnny Carson was host in 1972, trading the glamorous 30 Rockefeller Center for the NBC complex in “beautiful downtown” Burbank.

The historic move will happen after the completion of the 2014 Winter Olympics, according to reports.

NBC is expected to confirm details on the succession plan today.
