What do you remember about New York City in 1993?

In a new project launched by the New Museum called “Recalling 1993,” we are reminded of the importance of that year, and how it helped shape the city that we know today.

The project is ambitious, telling people to call a toll free number, 1-855-367-1993, to get a quick history lesson about any city neighborhood.

The New Museum calls the payphone “one of the last relics of that time.”

Between now and May 26th get on any payphone, and dial the numbers and you will hear a quip of history about the neighborhood you are dialing from.

“We’re all connected,” went the New York Telephone jingle from 1993.  Dial back to 1993 at any payphone in Manhattan.
