62-year-old John Saunders was arrested for stealing about $100,000 worth of 100- year- old whiskey. He rented a basement apartment in a huge mansion in western Pennsylvania, and according to cops, stumbled by accident upon a massive stash of pre-Prohibition booze hidden under the stairs behind a wall

The current owner of the mansion, who has changed it into a bed and breakfast, had Saunders arrested. Cops say he drank more than 45 bottles of the rye whiskey which was hidden there by industrialist J.P Brennan, the original owner of the mansion, and then apparently forgotten

Says the chef and innkeeper, Rick Bruckner, this is not just some really old whiskey. This is historical whiskey.
Saunders claims he didn’t touch it, the whiskey must have ‘evaporated.’ But police say they got his DNA off the empties, which he still had lying around. He claims he was just ‘cleaning’ them.
