How did an ex-felon fake his fingerprints to work at a Long Island school for a decade?

That’s one of the many questions surrounding Freeport middle school principal, John O’Mard.

State Department of Education officials state that John O’Mard used someone else’s fingerprints to get hired nearly 10 years ago.

But O’Mard’s attorney is saying something different; stating that there is no evidence his client submitted fake fingerprints to hide his criminal past, and that the city was aware of the principal’s record when they hired him.

John O’Mard made headlines last week for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy he met online in 2012.

O’Mard has pleaded not guilty to four counts of criminal sexual act in the third degree, and will face up to four years in prison if convicted.
