If you take the Long Island Railroad home, you may have noticed an ad that’s raising a few eyebrows.
The ad reads, “Ladies, admit it. You’re doing kegals right now,” and is intended to promote health TV network Veria Living. “Kegels” are an exercise some women do to “tone up” after child birth.
Some riders believe it is way too intimate of a topic to have on a billboard. “Why would they involve someone’s personal life? It’s really personal…it just doesn’t make sense!” one woman said.
The ad is making some men uncomfortable, too. “It’s just not something you put out in public,” said one male LIRR rider.
Others don’t seem to think the ad is that big of a deal and say they see more offensive things on the train every day. “It’s everyday life. We have babies every day, right?” one woman said.
The reaction to the ad is mixed depending on who you ask but some say it’s really too much for young eyes. “Sometimes kids are exposed too soon to something they really don’t need to know about,” said one mom.
We reached out to the LIRR and they said the ad is coming down Monday but not because its content violated standards but because its term has ended.
So, it will be making riders blush for just a few more days.
