BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (PIX11) – Neighbors in Bridgewater say large black turkey vultures have invaded their town. Some people report seeing hundreds of them in the area, and are growing concerned the birds could pick off their small pets.

Wildlife officials say they’ve seen more of the large black birds moving in to woodsy areas after Hurricane Sandy knocked down a lot older trees. They’ve hoisted up dead vultures into the surrounding trees to scare off the birds.

While neighbors say they’re not thrilled at the sight, they’ll happily deal with it if it mean getting rid of the pests.
