ROME, ITALY (PIX11)– Timothy Cardinal Dolan got mobbed by Italian photographers and parishioners outside Our Lady of Guadalupe in Rome Sunday, after saying Mass there.
His public appearance came after nearly a week of silence, as he and more than 150 Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church met to discuss the most pressing matters facing the Vatican.
115 Cardinals will start voting on a Pope this Tuesday.
Dolan won’t say whether any favorite has emerged, but he compared the process of getting to know the other Cardinals to the process of getting married. “You get to know them, you listen to them, it’s like when you marry.”
Dolan has been buzzed about in the Italian press as a favorite, papal candidate of Vatican Secretary of State, Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone.
