A complex storm is heading in our direction. With certainty high winds will be a problem. Wet snow will be a problem. Downed power lines and trees will be a problem.

What is uncertain is the amount of heavy wet snow for our area. Banding of snow will produce an inch an hour of snowfall or more. Depending on where those bands set up that’s where the heavy wet snow will go.

The current thinking is that the city will have anywhere from 2-5 inches. 5-7 inches is possible across Suffolk, though mixing with rain will be a problem with them as well.

Eastern Long Island will receive the most snow and wind because of its proximity to the storm. Any fluctuation in the storm track could vary the snow amounts dramatically.
