Bad news for Yankees fans — All-Star Curtis Granderson broke his forearm during his first at-bat when he was hit by a pitch Sunday.
The injury occurred on a 2-2 pitch from J.A. Happ, who drilled the outfielder in the arm. X-rays after the game confirmed the break; the star outfielder is expected to be on the disabled list for 10 weeks.
The Yankees are losing their most prolific power threat in Granderson, who slugged 43 home runs in 2012.
Granderson joins Alex Rodriguez, who is out until July following hip surgery, and Derek Jeter, who suffered a fractured ankle, on the bench for the start of the season.
