East Rutherford, NJ – While many New Yorkers may be excited to host next year’s Super Bowl at the Metlife Stadium, but now reports from Sports Business Daily indicate the NFL is in serious planning mode and creating contingency plans for what will happen if the area is met with extreme weather, like the nor’easter we saw over the weekend.

The NFL has apparently discussed possible scenarios including  playing the Super Bowl on Saturday February 1st instead of Sunday February 2nd.  Another scenario is to delay the game altogether.

There is little dispute, rescheduling an event as large as the Super Bowl, with so many moving pieces and fans and media flying in from all over the country and world would prove to be difficult.

PIX11 reached out to the NFL, who said they plan on playing the game as scheduled and as they do for every Super Bowl, they have been planning for all possibilities and are creating various contingency plans to deal with each potential situation.  As for specifics for next year’s game, the NFL will not comment.
