Vice President Joe Biden talked gun safety with law enforcement officials in Philadelphia on Monday.
New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey were on hand for the meeting.
During the gathering, Biden shot down recent reports that suggested that the Obama Administration was aiming to take weapons away from gun owners.
The Vice President insisted that the administration is counting on “the legitimate media” to report the truth about their plan on gun control where the 2nd amendment will be respected and upheld.
“There is a sense of urgency in the USA for the federal governments and local governments to act,” he said. “There is no conflict, none, zero with any of the things suggested here today with the 2nd amendment and right of legitimate citizens to hold and bear arms for their own self protection.”
A recent new poll found the majority of registered voters in Pennsylvania support banning military-style weapons.
