A blizzard warning is in effect for New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, Northeastern New Jersey and Connecticut until 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Tri-state area will see rain, snow and strong winds.

In Connecticut, Governor Dan Malloy says nonessential employees should not go to work Friday.

People across the Tri-state area are being urged to stay off the roads as the evening commute  Friday into Saturday is expected to be nasty.

Alternate side parking regulations have been suspended but meter rules are still in effect.

If you’re flying, travelers are being urged to call ahead.

More than 3,000 flights have already been canceled for Friday and Saturday and that number is going up fast.

While New York City schools are open, after-school programs are canceled.
