After two weeks of backlash and non-stop watercooler chatter, pop star Beyonce shut up most of her naysayers Thursday after she belted out the Star Spangled Banner live at a Super Bowl XLVII press conference.
Bey received much heat from critics after lip synching the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration on Jan. 21, and came out with guns blazing in her first public appearance since the controversy surfaced.
After receiving a standing ovation from the media-packed room, the singer smiled and asked reporters, “Any questions?”
Beyonce later came clean about her inauguration lip-synching scandal, explaining why she went that route.
“I am a perfectionist and one thing about me, I practice ’til my feet bleed,” she said. “I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show, due to the weather, due to the sound delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable singing live.
“It was about the president and the inauguration and I decided to sing along with my prerecorded track. I’m very proud of my performance.”
So now that this infamous lip-synching scandal is over, can we all move forward as a nation and figure out this economy problem.
