An Italian tourist was hauled off to jail after he claimed he forgot his wallet while dining at a posh East Side steakhouse.
According to the NY Daily News, a waiter at Smith and Wollensky presented the man with a bill for more than $200 Monday night.
That’s when he realized he didn’t have his wallet on him.
He offered to leave his iPhone as collateral while he went to get the cash about 30 blocks uptown.
But the restaurant wasn’t buying it and called police. He was charged with theft of services.
