Nassau County police say it’s too soon to discuss whether the skeleton of a woman found Monday on a Long Island beach is linked to the possible serial killer believed responsible for 10 deaths, but authorities did not rule out a connection.
Nassau County Police believe the victim is a woman in her 20’s. They found women’s clothes and a 22K gold necklace with a pig pendant.
Police are exploring the possibility that the pendant refers to the Chinese zodiac year of the pig. That could refer to 1995,1983,or 1971 as the potential birth year of the woman.
Her body was found by a woman walking her dog on the beach in the upscale area of Lattingtown. The dog started digging and she joined in. Authorities say there was obvious trauma to the skeletal remains.
The body was not washed up by Hurricane Sandy, but was there before the storm.
Anyone with information that help investigators is urged to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or the Homicide Squad at 516-573-7789.
