NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly 10 years since we said farewell to Carrie and the gang on HBO’s monster hit “Sex and the City.”

But now a reemergence of sorts, of a character TV audiences can’t seem to get enough of.

Carrie Bradshaw is back in the CW’s “The Carrie Diaries” but this time, its 1984 and she’s all of 16-years-old, trying to master the grueling task of being a teenager.

Starring as the precocious Carrie is Anna Sofia Robb, who still hasn’t absorbed the gravity of taking on the iconic role.

“It’s hard to wrap my mind around it. Once I see the poster on a building somewhere, I think that is when it will all hit,” Robb told PIX11 during a recent set visit.

The Carrie Diaries will follow the pint-sized Bradshaw in a back story many fans would probably be surprised about.

“Well Carrie, her mother has past away a couple of months before. She and her family are still grieving. She’s kinda learning how to live a new life,” she said. “Redefining relationships with her father and sister. Her first two loves – a boy Sebastian and the city – Manhattan”

Along for the ride, are two of Carrie’s besties, the salacious Maggie played by Katie Findlay and the pragmatic “Mouse” played by Ellen Wong.

“I have been known to whip out sarcasm every once and a while, which is where we overlap but Maggie was gutsier than I ever was at 17,” Findlay said, when trying to distinguish her character with herself.

“I would say hot mess,” she admitted.

A character who is not a hot mess but more down-to-earth is clearly Wong’s.

“It’s a lot of fun. I think its really a great show with great heart,” she said. “It’s exciting to be on a show where they don’t over glamorize teen drama that you have growing up and really taking it seriously.”

And for those curious fans who want to know where the original “Carrie Bradshaw” Sarah Jessica Parker stands with the re-emergence of her believed character,  Anna Sophia appears to have gotten the seal of approval.

“She sent me a real wonderful letter before I starting shooting the pilot, congratulating me. I met her at Fashion Week and it was a lot of fun.”

The Carrie Diaries premieres January 14 on the CW Network.
