It was a terrifying ordeal for a Georgia mom and her twins.
A man from Long Island broke in while they were home Friday afternoon, and she did the only thing she could think of to save her family’s life: grabbed her gun.
The strange man showed up at their door and started ringing the bell, and wouldn’t stop, terrorizing the woman inside.
She called her husband, who called 9-1-1. Then she grabbed her 9-year- old twins, her gun, and hid in a closet.
Meanwhile, the man downstairs pried his way inside with a crowbar and began tearing the house apart.
As the mother was trying to calm her kids down, the man burst into the closet where they were hiding — and found himself staring down the barrel of her gun.
She started firing.
She emptied her revolver on the man’s face, then grabbed her kids and ran to a neighbor’s house.
Her husband says she did the right thing.
“My wife is a hero. She protected her kids. She did what she was supposed to do as a responsible, prepared gun owner,” said Donnie Herman.
The intruder, identified as Paul Slater, survived with five bullets to his face and neck.
