THE BRONX (PIX11) – Last year the city set a record for the fewest murders since they started keeping track but the new year is off to a bloody star.
A 59-year-old school crossing guard is the victim of the city’s first homicide of 2013, authorities announced.
According to police, 25-year-old Raymond Mayrant shot and killed his girlfriend’s mother inside her apartment in the Soundview section of the Bronx Thursday.
The girlfriend who was also shot, is expected to be okay. Police are still searching for Mayrant.
