Piles and piles of overflowing trash bags, dozens and dozens of paper and cups, and who knows what else took over Van Brundt and Pioneer Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Pix11 aired this story on Christmas Eve.
Red Hook mother of twins Tracey O’Connell found it hard to navigate her baby carriage through it. Residents said the trash had been there ever since Hurricane Sandy hit, and seemed to double in size each week.
Pix11 reached out to the Department of Sanitation asking for a Christmas present for the community.
Red Hook residents said sanitation was out there the very next day, and that now the street looks fabulous.
