A Long Island man has been charged with murdering his friend and hiding his body in a closet for a week.

Thirty-three-year-old Ashton Barth has pleaded not guilty.

According to authorities, on December 18, Barth murdered his next-door neighbor, Jason Campbell, and then tried to chop off the victim’s head with an axe.

They say Barth then stashed Campbell’s body in a bedroom closet at his Central Islip home.

Barth’s mother and brother discovered the body on Christmas Eve and called the cops.
